New Features in Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1
The following features are new in Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1. More information about each feature can be found in your Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server online help.
- Web Scheduler Allows users not running Microsoft Outlook
2000 to schedule public and private conferences with direct booking of
conferencing resources. Web Scheduler also allows public conference
scheduling by anonymous users.
- Conference Management Service (CMS) autofailover
Allows administrators to assign a backup CMS that will automatically
take over the conferencing operations when the primary CMS is unavailable.
- T.120 Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) autofailover with notification Provides improved, faster MCU autofailover
with user notification and an option for users to rejoin a conference
if they were disconnected from it.
- Site restrictions on resources Allows administrators to restrict conference participation to specific sites, depending on the conferencing resource.
Running Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Update.exe from the Command Prompt
To run Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Update.exe from the command prompt, Update.exe and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.msi must be in the same directory.
Installation of Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Requires Specific Permissions
To install Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1, you must be logged on using one of the following account combinations:
- Local Administrator and Enterprise Administrator
- Local Administrator, Domain Administrator, and Exchange Full Administrator at the organization level
Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Cannot Be Uninstalled
There is no uninstall option available for Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1. Uninstalling the service pack will completely remove Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server from the server.
To restore your server to Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server without Service Pack 1
- Uninstall Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1.
- Log on to the conference calendar mailbox as
administrator.

For more information on these steps, see your Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Concepts and Planning guide and Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server documentation.
Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 and Earlier Versions Cannot Coexist in a Single Site
Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 and earlier versions cannot coexist in a single site. To successfully deploy Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1, you must upgrade all existing Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server computers in a single site to Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1.
After Installing Only MCU into Site B, Where the Only
CMS in the Forest Is in Site A, the MCU in Site B Cannot Be Seen in Exchange Conferencing Manager When Managing Site A
In this example, there are two Windows 2000 sites, Site A and Site B. After an MCU-only installation into Site B, where the only CMS in the Windows 2000 forest is in Site A, the MCU in Site B cannot be seen in Exchange Conferencing Manager when managing Site A.
To manage the MCU in Site B, install the MCU in Site B by typing the following at the command prompt
- msiexec /i "SourcePath\Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.msi" EXTENDEDSITE=SiteName
where SourcePath is the location of the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.msi file, and SiteName is the name of the conference site.
Note The msiexec command is case sensitive; msiexec will set the site in which the remote MCU will be installed. Verify that only the MCU is being installed and that all other options have been cleared.
The following line is the unattended installation option for this procedure
- msiexec /i "SourcePath\Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.msi" EXTENDEDSITE=SiteName PIDKEY=cdkey ADDLOCAL=ecs_mcu_feature /qb
where SourcePath is the location of the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.msi file, SiteName is the name of the conference site, and cdkey is your Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server CD key without spaces or hyphens.
Anonymous Access to Web Scheduler Is Turned Off by Default
Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 enables anonymous users to schedule online conferences using the Web interface. For better security, all the resources are set up to disallow scheduling for anonymous users by default. You can enable anonymous scheduling for selected resources by logging on to the resource mailbox using Outlook and setting the permissions for anonymous users to "Author".
To enable anonymous scheduling for a resource using Microsoft Outlook 2000
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- In Options, click Calendar Options.
- In Calendar Options, click Resource Scheduling.
- In Resource Scheduling, click Set Permissions.
- In Calendar Properties, click the Permissions tab, select Anonymous and change the Role to Author.
Important You must restart the Conference Management Service after making this change.
To enable anonymous scheduling for a resource using Microsoft Outlook
2002

- In Options, click Calendar
Options.
- In Calendar Options, click Resource
Scheduling.
- In Resource Scheduling, click Set
Permissions.
- In Calendar Properties, click the Permissions tab, select

Author.
Important You must restart the Conference Management Service after making this change.
To find the resource mailbox logon
name
- Start Active Directory Users and Computers: click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
- From Active Directory Users and Computers, click Advanced Features on the View menu.
- In the console tree, double-click Microsoft Exchange System Objects, and then click Conferencing.

- The logon name can be found on the Account tab.
Note Active Directory Users and Computers is a directory administration tool installed on computers configured as domain controllers. It is also available with the optional Administration Tools package. For information on installing the Administrative Tools package, see your Windows 2000 online help.
Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Web Scheduler Potentially Returns the Wrong Time Zone When Viewing a Scheduled Conference
Conferences scheduled using Web Scheduler use the time zone set on the server running Meeting Access Pages. If the server time zone is set to be one that has multiple time zones and a conference is scheduled using Web Scheduler, the time zone associated with that conference will be the correct time, but may be in the wrong time zone.
For example, a server set in the "GMT+01:00 Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris" time zone may set the time zone of the conference to be "GMT+01:00 West Central Africa." The "GMT+01:00" time is correct, but the specific zone is not.
To set the server to return a specific time zone
- Use Registry Editor and open the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange Conferencing\Parameters
- Create a new DWORD Value and name it Web Access TimeZoneId.
- Set the value data of Web Access TimeZoneId to the time zone you want.
Note Values for this field can be found in the CdoTimeZoneId Enum topic of the Exchange 2000 Web Storage System SDK. Entering an incorrect value for CdoTimeZoneId can render the Web Scheduler unusable. Microsoft recommends scheduling a test conference using the Web Scheduler after entering a value for CdoTimeZoneId to prevent interruption of service to Web Scheduler users.
Caution Do not use a registry editor to edit the registry directly unless you have no alternative. The registry editors bypass the standard safeguards provided by administrative tools. These safeguards prevent you from entering conflicting settings or settings that are likely to degrade performance or damage your system. Editing the registry directly can have serious, unexpected consequences that can prevent the system from starting and require that you reinstall Exchange 2000. To configure or customize Exchange 2000, use the programs in Control Panel or Microsoft Management Console (MMC) whenever possible.
Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Meeting Access Pages Must Be Installed
Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Meeting Access Pages must be installed on each Exchange 2000 Server that hosts conference resource mailboxes, and must be upgraded to Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1.
To install only Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Meeting Access Pages on an Exchange 2000 Server
- Start Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Setup.
- On the Setup Type page, select Custom.
- On the Custom Setup page, change all components except Conference Access Web Pages to Do not install this component.
- On the Custom Setup page, change the Conference Access Web Pages component to Install this component on the local hard disk.
Important You must install Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 after you install Meeting Access Pages. Installation of the service pack will update only Meeting Access Pages.
Additional Requirements for Web Scheduler
The Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Web Scheduler feature will not function properly unless the following items are satisfied
- Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Meeting Access Pages must be installed on each Exchange 2000 Server that hosts conference resource mailboxes, and must be upgraded to Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1. See "Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Meeting Access Pages Must Be Installed" in this document for more information.
- Any Exchange 2000 Server that has conferencing resource mailboxes belonging to a specific conferencing site must be in the same site. You cannot host conferencing resources belonging to different Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server sites on the same Exchange 2000 Server.
