POS CONNECTOR FOR MICROSOFT OFFICE SMALL BUSINESS ACCOUNTING 2006 and MICROSOFT RETAIL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM RELEASE NOTES This ReadMe file contains the most up-to-date information about security, installation, documentation, release history, and known issues for the 1.7.2178.0 release of POS Connector for Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006 and Microsoft Point of Sale. SECURITY Before installing Microsoft Point of Sale, make sure your Windows operating system has the latest security updates installed. See www.microsoft.com/windows for more information about Windows Update. INSTALLATION 1. Download the file by clicking the RMSConnectorSBA.EXE link located at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bb01bfff-1a54-4f0b-b766-a89137734cb6&DisplayLang=en. 2. Double-click the RMSConnectorSBA.EXE program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program. 3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. NOTE: If you are installing a new version of the POS Connector, you must first remove and uninstall the previous version. Please see the steps to remove and uninstall POS Connector below. REMOVE AND UNINSTALL Before uninstalling the download, you must first remove POS Connector from Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting. 1. In Small Business Accounting, choose Utilities from the File menu and click Add-in Manager…. 2. In the Small Business Accounting Add-in Manager window, select POS Connector. 3. Click Remove and then select OK. 4. Click OK on the following dialog stating to restart Small Business Accounting and close Small Business Accounting. You may now uninstall the download with the following steps. 1. On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 3. In the list of currently installed programs, select RMS Connector for Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting and then click Remove or Add/Remove. If a dialog box appears, follow the instructions to remove the program. 4. Click Yes or OK to confirm that you want to remove the program. RELEASE HISTORY 1.7.2117.0 Original release of POS Connector. 1.7.2178.0 Includes fix to post cash payouts and drops. The original release of POS Connector will fail to post a batch if a Cash Drop or Tender Pay Out has occurred. When attempting to post the batch, the following error message will be displayed: “Error processing batch . The batch cannot be posted to the General Ledger since the batch debits do not equal credits." To install updated versions of POS Connector, follow the steps above to remove and uninstall the current release and install the latest release. KNOWN ISSUES 1. Some journal entries require receipt journaling. To turn on journaling, in POS Manager, select Registers from the Store menu, and then select View/Edit Registers. Double-click the register. Select the receipt printer in the Selected devices column and click Properties. Mark the Save receipts to the database (journal). Click OK and click Save and Close. You will be prompted to restart POS Point of Sale. If the store does not print receipts, then you must turn on journaling only. In POS Manager, select Registers from the Store menu, and then select View/Edit Registers. Double-click the register. Select Printer: Journal only from the Available devices column and add it to the Selected devices column. Click OK and click Save and Close. You will be prompted to restart POS Point of Sale.
