ISSUES ========================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 Hybrid Sleep and Hibernation are not supported ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hibernation on shared computers running Windows XP and Windows Vista are not supported when Windows Disk Protection is turned on. Hybrid Sleep is not supported on computers running Windows Vista when Windows Disk Protection is turned on. WORKAROUND: There is no workaround for this issue. We recommend you turn off Hybrid Sleep and/or Hibernation on the shared computer. For more information on turning off Hybrid Sleep and/or Hibernation, see Help and Support for your operating system. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 Welcome screen does not display on Windows XP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Welcome screen is not supported with Windows SteadyState on shared computers running Windows XP. WORKAROUND: To log on, press CTL+ALT+DELETE. Type your name and password, and then click OK. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.3 New versions of Windows Update are not detected or installed by Windows SteadyState on shared computers running Windows XP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows SteadyState cannot detect and install new versions of Windows Update on shared computers running Windows XP. However, the updates that Windows Update provides are detected and installed by Windows SteadyState. WORKAROUND: Make sure that the latest version of Windows Update is installed before installing Windows SteadyState. If a new version of Windows Update must be installed after Windows SteadyState is installed, install the new version manually. For more information, see the “Manually Install Windows Update” section in the Windows SteadyState Handbook. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.4 The Windows Disk Protection session timer notification may have a shorter warning time for some administrators ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Administrators created before Windows SteadyState is installed receive a 60- second warning. Administrators created after Windows SteadyState is installed only receive a five-second warning. WORKAROUND: If you are an experienced IT professional and skilled in editing the system registry, use the Registry Editor to update the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] registry setting to: “HungAppTimeout”=dword:65000 For more information on using the Registry Editor, see Help and Support for your operating system. Warning: The system registry contains complex system information that is vital to your computer, and an incorrect change to your computer's registry could render your computer inoperable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.5 When logging off a shared computer, an error message displays referring to restarting and shutting down the computer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This issue occurs when: - Windows Disk Protection is turned on. - The shared computer is running Windows Vista. - User Account Control is turned on. _ You are a member of the administrator group, but not logged on as the built-in administrator. When a user attempts to log off in the above situation the following message is displayed: “If you shut down or restart the computer now, all changes to the computer will be removed. To save changes, click Cancel.” Currently it is not possible to log off and save changes without also restarting the shared computer. WORKAROUND: To log off without saving changes, click Log Off. To save changes, click Cancel. The following message will display: “You are about to restart or shut down this computer. Windows Disk Protection is configured to remove all changes when the computer is restarted. Would you like to save changes?” To save changes, click Save Changes and Restart This Computer or Save Changes and Shut Down This Computer. ======================================= 3.
