1.0 Introduction

This file contains late-breaking or other important information that supplements the Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005 Beta 3 documentation for Express Edition. You should read this file completely before installing this beta release of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

Important  This is a preliminary version of the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Beta 3 readme file. The final version of this readme file is available online at this Microsoft Web site.

3.0 Installing SQL Server 2005 Beta 3

3.1 Accessing Setup Documentation

The portion of Express Edition Books Online that addresses installation of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Beta 3 is contained in a separate help file that is available in the product download. This help file, which contains all of the information regarding installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Beta 3, can be accessed from the autorun menu.

To access the setup help file from the installation directory:

  1. Double-click default.htm to start the autorun menu

  2. Click Read the release notes.

4.0 Obtaining Technical Support

Support for this beta release is available through Internet newsgroups. We strongly encourage you to use the newsgroups to provide feedback directly to the development team and to receive support for the beta release. Please do not use other Microsoft newsgroups for posting questions or feedback regarding SQL Server 2005.

Additional information regarding known issues with this beta release that were not significant enough or were discovered too late to be included in this file is published in the SQL Server 2005 Beta 3 Known Issues document (sqlki.chm). This file is available in the root folder of the SQL Server 2005 Beta 3 CD or in the directory on the local computer or network share to which the installation files were extracted. This document is also available online at this Microsoft Web site. The online version of this document will be maintained and updated after the release of SQL Server 2005 Beta 3.
