Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 Extensions for Windows® Workflow Foundation Release Candidate 5 (RC5) Installation Instructions

This version of Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation is compatible with release versions of Microsoft® .NET Framework version 2.0 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, the Release Candidate 1 version of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0, and with the 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 Technical Refresh release.

Note   The RC5 version of Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation is NOT compatible with the 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 release. For a version compatible with that release, please install Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation Beta 2.2 here (English only).

Note   The RC5 version of Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation is NOT supported with the .NET Framework 3.0 - July CTP or prior releases. Please uninstall any earlier versions of the .NET Framework 3.0 before installing this release of Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation. If you need Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation Release Candidate 4, which is compatible with the July CTP versions of Windows Vista and the .NET Framework 3.0, then go here.

Remove earlier version of Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation

If you have an earlier version of Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation installed, you must remove it before installing Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation RC5. Perform the following steps:

  1. In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.

  2. Remove Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation.
    Note   By uninstalling the Visual Studio 2005 Extensions, you also uninstall the Windows Workflow Foundation Software Development Kit (SDK).

  3. Remove Windows Workflow Foundation as described below.

Remove earlier version of Windows Workflow Foundation Runtime Components

If you have an earlier version of Windows Workflow Foundation Runtime Components installed, you must remove it before installing Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation RC5. Perform the following steps:

  1. In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.

  2. Remove Windows Workflow Foundation.

Upgrade from a pre-release version of Visual Studio 2005

If are using Visual Studio 2005 to develop your workflows, then you must uninstall pre-release versions of Visual Studio 2005 and then install the release version before installing Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation RC5.

Updating the .NET Framework version 2.0

If you have a pre-release version of the .NET Framework version 2.0 installed on your machine, you must uninstall it and install the release version as described in the following steps:

  1. In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.

  2. Remove pre-release versions of the .NET Framework 2.0.

  3. Install the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 Redistributable Package

Install Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation RC5

To install the Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation RC5, perform the following steps:

  1. Download and install the Microsoft Pre-Release Software Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 - Release Candidate 1 package.

  2. Download and install the Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation RC5.

  3. Follow the installation instructions.

Note   Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation will not be installed if you do not have Visual Studio 2005 installed. Also, if you have to repair an installation of Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation, you must run Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation RC5.exe again and repair it through that installation wizard rather than the one opened when you select Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation in Add or Remove Programs.
