You can install Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook on any combination of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems and Office applications.
Note: We strongly recommend that you uninstall Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook before upgrading the Windows operating system or Office application. The following configurations are supported:
o Windows XP
o Windows Vista
o Microsoft Office 2003
o 2007 Microsoft Office system
o Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 SP3
This section describes known issues that may occur when you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is required for successful installation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook. If the .NET Framework is not already installed, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook Setup will automatically install it. If the .NET Framework is not installed successfully, you must exit Setup and install it manually before continuing with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook installation.
Previous Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online address books may not be removed automatically during uninstall or update. To manually remove the address book in Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Vista, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. In the Classic view, click Mail, and then click E-mail Accounts.
3. In the E-mail Accounts wizard, under Directory, click View or change existing directories or address books.
4. Click Next.
5. On the Directories and Address Books page, select Microsoft CRM Address Book, click Remove, and then click Finish.
To manually remove the address book in 2007 Microsoft Office, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. In the Classic view, click Mail, and then click E-mail Accounts.
3. In the Account Settings dialog box, on the Address Book tab, select Microsoft Dynamics CRM Address Book, and then click Remove.
4. Click Close.
This section describes issues about a software upgrade.
You cannot upgrade prerelease versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook, such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live Early Access II (EA II) Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook. Before you run Setup, you must uninstall the prerelease version.
This section describes known issues that may occur within specific feature areas of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook.
You cannot run the Data Migration Manager while Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook is running.
Temporarily disable Microsoft Dynamics CRM
· In the notification area, click the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Application Host icon, and then click Disable CRM. The icon appears gray.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online will be re-enabled the next time that you start Outlook.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook tools are used to change organizations, diagnose and repair issues, and install updates for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook. You can run the Configuration Wizard or Update from either the CRM toolbar, or on the Start menu, if the toolbar is not available. Diagnostics are available only on the Start menu.
You can start the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Configuration Wizard, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Diagnostics, or Microsoft Dynamics CRM Update from the All Programs menu.
Start a tool
· Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and then click the tool that you want to start.
Search in Help does not work in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for Outlook if you are working in Windows Vista and are working offline. When you type in the Look for box and then click Find, you receive an "unhandled exception has occurred" error message. This issue occurs because the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Help catalog is not created during Microsoft Dynamics CRM Client Setup. This issue may be resolved after installing future Windows Vista updates.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook with Offline Access is available only with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Professional Plus version.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook with Offline Access cannot be installed or configured for multiple users on a computer. In, addition, please note the following parameters:
By default, if you have the offline access version of the client installed, client offline background synchronization is turned off. To turn this feature on in Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook, on the CRM menu click Options, click the Synchronization tab, and then select the Synchronize the CRM items in my Outlook folders every x minutes option. By default, the number of minutes to synchronize is 15.
When you click Save in the Configuration tool to save a report, the tool may return an unhandled exception error message. The "Microsoft.Crm.Config.Client.ReattachPreviouslySavedDatabaseAction failed" error message is received when you run the Configuration Wizard. This issue can occur when you try to use an existing database from a previous installation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook with Offline Access. To work around this issue, follow these steps:
1. Exit Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook Setup.
2. Move the database files to a different folder. Or, you can delete the database files. By default, the database files are named MSCRM_Id_MSDE.mdf and MSCRM_Id_MSDE_LOG.ldf, where Id is an alphanumeric identifier. The database files are located in the <drive:>\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\MSCRM\Data folder. Notice that to complete this step, you may have to stop the Microsoft SQL Server service.
3. Restart the Configuration wizard.
If Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook unexpectedly loses the connection to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online service, you may have to close and then restart Outlook to reconnect to the server.
