Let's suppose you've compiled a large list of data - for example, sales figures for every product your company makes. But now you're ready to distill some meaningful information from the data.

For these and other questions, you can create a PivotTable® report - an interactive table that automatically extracts, organizes, and summarizes your data. You can then use the report to analyze the data - for example, make comparisons, detect patterns and relationships, and analyze trends.

This download provides a complete tutorial, including animations, for creating a PivotTable report and modifying it to fit your requirements.


To install this download:

  1. You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
  2. Download the file from Office Update by clicking Download Now! at the top left of this page and following the instructions in the dialog boxes.
  3. Double-click the XCrtPiv.exe program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Instructions for use:

To view PivotTable Reports 101, open the folder where you installed the files, and then double-click the file ExCreatePiv1.htm.

To remove this download:

There is no uninstall feature with this download. To remove the download file itself, delete the file XCrtPiv.exe. To remove the files you installed, search for and delete the following files from your drive:
