Updated 128-Bit Encryption Provider for Outlook 2000 SR-1 Click here to email this to a friend.

This update contains an improved version of the Exchcsp.dll, which provides encryption services to Microsoft Outlook® 2000. The dynamic-link library (DLL) in this update contains improvements specifically for use with Outlook 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) and 128-bit security encryption. If you are using 40-bit or 56-bit security encryption, see Updated 40- or 56-Bit Encryption Provider for Outlook 2000 SR-1.

If you are using 40-bit or 56-bit security encryption and you want to update Outlook to 128-bit security encryption, you can install this update. However, you should install the Microsoft Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack first.

If you are using Microsoft Windows® 2000, you do not need this update.

To determine if you are using 128-bit encryption, do the following:
  1. Start Outlook 2000.
  2. On the Help menu, click About Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Click Security Info.
  4. If you see Cipher Strength 128 bits under Microsoft Outlook 2000, you are using 128-bit encryption.
If you see Cipher Strength 40 bits or Cipher Strength 56 bits under Microsoft Outlook 2000, you are using 40-bit or 56-bit encryption. See Updated 40- or 56-Bit Encryption Provider for Outlook 2000 SR-1 for the correct update.
  5. Click OK twice to return to Outlook 2000.

Note   This update requires that you have installed Outlook 2000 SR-1. If you are using Windows 2000, you do not need this update.
