Use and Reuse Your Original Drawings in Office 2000 Programs Click here to email this to a friend.

Storing your original pictures in Clip Gallery allows you to get just the picture you want, wherever you want it. For example, you can create a picture using the drawing tools in PowerPoint®. When you store that picture in Clip Gallery, you can reuse it in a Word document, a FrontPage®-based web, and another PowerPoint presentation to give your project a consistent look.

Original drawing used in different applications

The first step in storing a personal creation in the Clip Gallery program on your computer is to create an original drawing. You can do this in Office programs by using the tools on the Drawing toolbar. For example, use the AutoShapes and WordArt tools to create an interesting header or logo. (If you need to display the Drawing toolbar, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Drawing.)

Once you are satisfied with your picture, the next step is to copy and paste it into Clip Gallery.

Add an original drawing to Clip Gallery

  1. In your Office program, draw the picture you want. Use the tools on the Drawing toolbar as described above.
For more information on using the Drawing toolbar, see Help for your Office program.
  2. Select the picture.
If your picture has many parts, it helps to group them together first. To do this, select all the elements of the picture, and then click Group on the Draw menu.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  4. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
  5. Find and select the category in Clip Gallery in which you wish to store your picture.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  7. When prompted, name your picture.

Insert Your Picture from Clip Gallery

Now that your creation is stored in Clip Gallery, you can insert it into any application that supports Clip Gallery. For example, if you used PowerPoint to create and store your picture in Clip Gallery, you could insert your creation into an Excel spreadsheet, a FrontPage-based web, or a Word document. Because these applications support Clip Gallery, you can follow the usual steps to insert a Clip Gallery picture.

Insert a picture from Clip Gallery into an Office document

  1. Create the worksheet, web, or document as usual.
  2. Point to Picture on the Insert menu, and then click Clip Art.
  3. Select the category in which you stored your picture.
  4. Click your picture.
    A shortcut menu will appear.
  5. Click Insert Clip.
Your picture is now included in the Office document.
  6. You can insert another picture using the steps above, or, if you are finished inserting pictures, close Clip Gallery.
