Add Horizontal Lines to an HTML Message in Outlook 2000
In Microsoft Outlook® 2000, lines are a simple design feature that can enhance the look and readability of a message. In a lengthy message, use lines to divide content into smaller sections. That way, readers can scan the message and read only the content that interests them. Or, use lines as a decorative element, changing their length, width, and color to suit your preferences.
Note If you're using Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor, type add line in the Office Assistant or on the Answer Wizard tab in the Help window, and then click Search.
- In the HTML message, click where you want to insert the line in the message body.
- On the Insert menu, click Horizontal Line.
- You can do any of the following to change how the line looks:
- To change the line length, click the line to select it. On either end of the line, drag the sizing handle left or right.
- To change the line width, click the line, and then drag any one of the three sizing handles up or down.
- To change the line color, click the line, and then click the Font Color button on the toolbar.
Besides adding lines, the HTML message format also lets you enhance messages using special designs, formatted text, or a structured layout. For more information, read Create Stylish and Decorative E-mail in Outlook 2000 Using HTML.
Note While many popular e-mail programs besides Outlook 2000 - such as Outlook 98, Outlook Express 4.0, Eudora 4.0, and Netscape Messenger 4.0 - understand HTML messages, some do not. For more information about sending HTML messages, read Choose the Best Outlook 2000 Message Format for a Recipient.
