Editing Files in FrontPage 2000-Based Webs
People who are new to Microsoft FrontPage® 2000, and to the world of the Internet, can sometimes find the idea of editing files on webs confusing. You want to be sure that the changes you make to a file actually show up on your web.
There is a way to make sure that changes you make to files in FrontPage-based webs are always propagated to that web, no matter what application you used to create the file. When a file is part of a FrontPage-based web, be sure to edit that file from within FrontPage.
To edit a file in a FrontPage-based web
- Start FrontPage.
- On the File menu, click Open Web.
- In the Open Web dialog box, navigate to the web containing the file you want to edit, and double-click the web.
- In the Folder list, double-click the file you want to edit.
- Edit the file, save your changes, and exit the application you used to edit the file.
FrontPage opens the file for you in the application that you have associated with it. When you save your changes to the file, the changes will appear the next time the web containing the file is opened.
There are many good reasons to edit files in a FrontPage-based web by using FrontPage, in addition to ensuring that your edits will show up on your web. You can use Reports view in FrontPage to check hyperlinks in your file, show your download times, and show when a file was last modified.
