Driver Digital Signature Verification Tool 1.0

Download today to help you resolve driver-related issues on your computer. In many cases, unsigned drivers installed on your computer can create instability, software program failures, and blue screens. This tool assists you in validating and troubleshooting the drivers currently installed on your computer.

With DDSV 1.0 installed, you can:

This tool applies to Windows 2000.

How to use
  1. Click Start, then click Run.
  2. Type drivers.exe in the Run dialog box and click OK. This displays the PnP Drivers window.
    or
  3. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Driver Verification Tool, and click Drivers.
To verify drivers:
  1. In the PnP Drivers window, click List Drivers.
  2. DDSV 1.0 checks for driver signatures and populates the PnP Driver window with all drivers found on your computer.
  3. The Digital Signature column in the result set displays "True" for signed drivers and "False" for unsigned (unsupported) drivers.
  4. You can sort the result set by clicking on any of the column headers.
To view and rename unsigned driver files:
  1. Double-click an unsigned driver in the PnP Drivers window. The location and filename of each file installed by the unsigned driver is displayed.
  2. Click once to highlight a file belonging to an unsigned driver and type the new filename.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Note You cannot rename files that belong to signed (supported) drivers.
To generate a text file:
  1. In the PnP Drivers window, click Export to Txt File.
  2. A text file (ddsvt.txt) is created in the My Documents folder by default. This file contains the same information as the PnP Drivers window.
  3. Send this file to a technical support organization for further analysis and help in resolving your issues. Please be sure to attach this file (ddvst.txt) to any request for support that you submit to Microsoft.

How to uninstall
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click for Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Select Driver Digital Signature Verification Tool (DDSV) and click Change/Remove.
You can also uninstall DDSV 1.0 following these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders.
  2. Search for drivers.INF.
  3. Once this file is displayed, right-click on the file and choose Active Uninstall.
Note The file drivers.inf is a system file. If your search returns no results, the system files might be hidden. Follow these steps to display system files:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  2. Click Tools, and then click Folder Options (in some versions of Windows, Folder Options is located under View).
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. Under Hidden files, click Show all files.
  5. Make sure that Hide file extensions for known file types is not selected.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  7. Click Search Now to restart your search.

Important System files should be visible only temporarily. To hide the system files after receiving your search results, follow steps 1 through 3, above. For step 4, click Do not show hidden or system files.
