Because of code changes and improvements to the Windows Update service, you may be unable to obtain the latest device driver updates using the Windows Device Manager and Add Printer Wizard components. To resolve this issue, you must update the Code Download Manager (CDM), a component on your computer that interacts with the Windows Update service. Download now to get the latest version of the Windows Update Code Download Manager (CDM) component.

1. Click Start, click Settings, and the click Control Panel.
2. Click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Select Windows 2000 Hotfix (Pre-SP4) [See Q329553 for more information] and then click Change/Remove.
