Q318842: Security Update

This update resolves the "Flaw in 802.1x Implementation Could Enable Spoofing via an Access Point" security vulnerability in Windows XP. Among other improvements to the 802.1x [wireless] implementation, this update prevents a malicious user from setting up a rogue access point and convincing a Windows XP system that it is actually a legitimate one. Download now to help prevent an attacker from posing as a legitimate wireless access point.

Note As long as encryption is active, the attacker would not be able to decrypt data from the user’s session.

For more information about these issues, read the associated Microsoft Security Bulletin. (This site is in English.)
