This update resolves the "Flaw in 802.1x Implementation Could Enable Spoofing via an Access Point" security vulnerability in Windows XP. Among other improvements to the 802.1x [wireless] implementation, this update prevents a malicious user from setting up a rogue access point and convincing a Windows XP system that it is actually a legitimate one. Download now to help prevent an attacker from posing as a legitimate wireless access point.
Note As long as encryption is active, the attacker would not be able to decrypt data from the user’s session.
