Security Update, February 13, 2002 (MSXML 2.6 and 3.0)

This update resolves the "XMLHTTP Control Can Allow Access to Local Files" security vulnerability in Microsoft XML (MSXML) 2.6 and 3.0, and Windows XP, and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-008. Download now to help prevent a malicious user from reading the files on your computer when you visit a specially malformed Web site.

Note You can have multiple versions of MSXML installed concurrently on your computer. MSXML 2.6 and 3.0 are pre-installed on Windows XP, and this update fixes both versions.

System Requirements

This update applies to Windows XP computers that are running MSXML version 2.6 and 3.0, 3.0 SP1 or 3.0 SP2 installed.
