This update resolves the "SQL Server Text Formatting Functions Contain Unchecked Buffers" security vulnerability in Windows XP 64-bit edition, and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS01-060. Download now to prevent a malicious user from running code of his or her choice on your server or from launching a Denial of Service (DoS) attack on your server.

This update addresses two vulnerabilities. The first vulnerability results from a flaw in Microsoft SQL Server™ itself. The second vulnerability results from a flaw in the C runtime in Windows® 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP that is exposed primarily through SQL Server.

Note Apply this update only to computers that are running SQL Server.
