This update resolves the "You May Lose Data or Program Settings After Reinstalling, Repairing, or Upgrading Windows XP" issue in Windows XP, and is discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article Q312369. If you upgrade, reinstall, or repair the version of Windows XP that was preinstalled by a computer manufacturer, in some cases, you might lose data or program settings.
