This update resolves the "Malformed Domain Controller Service Request" security vulnerability in Windows 2000, and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS01-011. Download now to prevent a malicious user from temporarily disrupting service on your domain controller.
A service that runs on Windows 2000 domain controllers incorrectly processes a certain type of invalid request. If a malicious user sends a continuous stream of specially malformed data packets to your domain controller, the data packets can consume your computer's resources and cause your domain controller to process service requests slowly or not at all. In some cases, this prevents the domain controller from authenticating users.
