The newest version of Internet Explorer includes improved support for DHTML and CSS, which gives Web architects greater control over browser appearance and behavior. Please note that the localized version of this release in Arabic and Hebrew languages can be installed only on localized versions of Windows 98 and Windows 2000. The English version of this release should be used for installation on all other operating systems (Windows 95, Windows NTŪ and non-localized Windows 98).

Windows 2000 Users: Internet Explorer Setup for Windows 2000 does not allow you to customize the installation or use any advanced options in the Setup program. This behavior occurs because of the new Windows File Protection (WFP) feature in Windows 2000. For more information, please read Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article Q256340. (This site is in English.)

If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, installing Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 will upgrade your computer to 128-bit encryption. If you are running Windows 2000 or Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), installing Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 will not change the current level of encryption on your computer.

Note Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1 and Internet Tools is eligible for export from the U.S. to all customers worldwide, except to U.S. embargoed destinations. Information on exporting Microsoft products is available at www.microsoft.com/exporting. (This site is in English.)
