This update resolves the "ActiveX Parameter Validation" security vulnerability in Windows 2000. There is an unchecked buffer (a temporary data storage area) in an ActiveX control that ships as part of Windows 2000. If a malicious user sends you a URL in an e-mail that invokes your ActiveX controls, it can exploit this vulnerability and cause code to run via a buffer overrun. Download now to help prevent a malicious user from adding, creating, or deleting files or formatting your hard drive by causing the ActiveX buffer to overflow.
