MSN Messenger Service 3.0
MSN Messenger Service now includes great new features like voice chat, sending files, and support for emoticons. Send instant messages to pagers, call friends on their home or cell phones, or share your favorite music, all directly from your computer.
The new MSN Messenger Service provides several benefits:
- MSN Messenger Service 3.0 is the first instant messaging service to provide free long distance service.*
Call anywhere in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia for free from almost anywhere in the world. Simply choose the phone number of someone on your list, or use the dial pad to call anyone else. Also, you can click the Call button to call the computer of a friend who has MSN Messenger 3.0 installed, and use your microphones to have a conversation.
- Using MSN Messenger 3.0, you now have several ways to communicate from your computer.
Send instant messages to online friends, and send invitations to play Internet games or to online meetings using NetMeeting®. Make calls from computer to computer, or computer to phone. Connect to friends, even if they're offline, with computer to pager or computer to e-mail connections.
- Be in control of your communications with MSN Messenger 3.0.
Customize your display name, fonts, colors, and add fun emoticons to your messages. Take advantage of privacy features that allow you to block communications from specific users, and see who has included you on their contact lists.
*Note Free long distance applies to voice transmission calls initiated from a computer. Calls placed using Messenger 3.0 are free computer to computer or free to the 50 United States and the District of Columbia when made from computer to telephone or mobile device. To install MSN Messenger Service 3.0, your computer must meet or exceed the following system requirements:
- 486DX/66 or higher
- Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows NT
4.0 or later
- 2 MB of available hard disk space
- 8 MB RAM
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later
- The product is started automatically every time Windows restarts. An icon
is available in the taskbar (next to the clock).
- Double-click the icon to use MSN Messenger Service.
- If you don't see the icon in your task bar, you can always click the
Start button, point to Programs, and then click MSN Messenger
Service.
- Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click
Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Select MSN Messenger Service 3.0.
- Click Add/Remove.
