Security Update, April 17, 2000
This update eliminates the "Malformed TCP/IP Print Request" vulnerability found in the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Printing Services for Windows NT® 4.0, and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS00-021. Download now to prevent a malicious user from disrupting your network printing services.
This vulnerability exists because the TCP/IP Printing Service (a printing service provided for integration into Unix environments) does not handle certain types of malformed print requests correctly. If a malicious user sends a specially-malformed print request, it can cause the TCP/IP Printing Services to stop processing print requests.
For more information about this vulnerability, read Microsoft Security Bulletin MS00-021. (This site is in English.)
This update applies to the following versions of Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4 or later:
