The above table includes all the files necessary to deploy this evaluation image. These files were extracted into the same folder as this document when you ran the installer.
In order to use this evaluation you need to add this package as a new virtual machine to your Virtual Server 2005 R2 installation. To do this perform the following steps from the administration console of your Virtual Server:
· Add the virtual machine to your Virtual Server 2005 R2 management console
· Launch the virtual machine
On the Add Virtual Machine page, you can add a virtual machine to Microsoft® Virtual Server 2005 R2 by using an existing virtual machine configuration (.vmc) file. The configuration file cannot be in use by a virtual machine that is currently available; in other words by one that has already been added to Virtual Server.
1. Launch the Administration console by running
Start à All Programs à Microsoft Virtual Server à Virtual Server Administration Website
2. In the navigation pane, under Virtual Machines, click Add.
3. In Fully qualified path to file, type the fully qualified path to the WIN03_MOSS.VMC file that is included in this package. This file can be found in the folder where you extract the contents of the package.
Notes
· To perform this procedure, you must have the appropriate permissions. If you do not have the appropriate permissions, you will either receive an error message or you will not be able to view certain menu items and options described in this procedure. To change your permissions, contact your Virtual Server administrator. For more information, see "Securing Virtual Server" in the Virtual Server 2005 Administrator's Guide.
· After completing this procedure, the virtual machine is added to Virtual Server. To view status information and gain access to configuration options for the virtual machine, click Master Status in the navigation pane. For more information, see "View the status of all virtual machines" in the Virtual Server 2005 Administrator’s Guide.
· When typing paths to folders or files, note that local file paths (for example, C:\my disk files\my disk.vhd) reference the computer running the Virtual Server service. If the file or folder that you want to reference is on a computer other than the one running the Virtual Server service, you must use a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path (for example, \\computer name\share\folder\file name).
You are now ready to start your evaluation. Use the following procedure to start your virtual machine and access its contents:
1. Launch the Administration console by running
Start à All Programs à Microsoft Virtual Server à Virtual Server Administration Website
2. Locate your evaluation virtual machine in the list of available virtual machines in the Status panel and point to the name of the virtual machine to manage.
3. In the menu of options click on Turn On – note that the status of the virtual machine has changed from Off to Running
4. Point to the name of the virtual machine again and select Remote Control from the menu.
a. If this is the first virtual machine you are trying to remotely control on this Virtual Server, you may get an error requesting that you enable the Virtual Machine Remote Control (VMRC) server before you can remotely control a virtual machine. Simply select Enable next to VMRC server and click OK
b. You may be prompted for credentials to access the remote view of your virtual machine. If you are prompted, use the credentials you used to install Virtual Server on this computer.
Notes
· The options that are displayed depend on the current state of the virtual machine. For more information, see “Managing virtual machine state” in the Virtual Server 2005 Administrator's Guide.
· For more information about the Virtual Machine Remote Control (VMRC) server, see “Configuring Virtual Machine Remote Control” in the Virtual Server 2005 Administrator's Guide.
· For instructions on opening the Administration Website, see "Open the Administration Website" in the Virtual Server 2005 Administrator’s Guide.
· To connect to a virtual machine, you can also click the screen thumbnail of the virtual machine.
Use the following information to log on to Microsoft Windows contained within the virtual machine
· Username: Administrator
· Password: pass@word1
